LUBRICANTS, WATER DISPLACING, SYNTHETIC
This specification is approved for use by all Departments
and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.1 Scope. This specification covers synthetic, water displacing lubricant, compounds
which may be applied from gas-pressurized containers, or by dipping or brushing.
1.2 Classification. The compound shall be furnished in the specified types and grades (see
1.2.1 Types. The compound types shall consist of the following:
a. Type I: Pressurized spray container (for spray application).
b. Type II: Bulk form.
1.2.2 Grades. The compound grades shall be designated as follows:
a. Grade A: Lubricant, water displacing, synthetic.
b. Grade B: Lubricant, water displacing, synthetic, with added
c. Grade C: Lubricant, dry spray, synthetic.

Grade C is a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene)
PTFE is also known by the DuPont brand name Teflon.
PTFE is a fluorocarbon solid consisting of carbon and fluorine. With a high-molecular-weight compound and one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any solid to reduce wear and protection from corrosion chemicals.
Lektro-Tech C has also been known in the industrial world as No-Cross and No-Bar-Zee, used as a dry lubricant with exceptional properties to lube, repel moisture, and even prevent insects such as ants from griping to treated surfaces. In the marine world this product is excellent from preventing fouling agents (zebra mussels, algae, barnacles, etc.)
Lektro-Tech C superior to other PTFE dry lube products:
While PTFE is a bone dry lube material, the solvent carriers are not, and are flammable.
• Lektro-Tech C carrier solvent is hydrophobic:
o Neither water nor water-containing substances can wet PTFE.
o The high electro-negativity of fluorine creates one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any surface.
• Lektro-Tech C is non-flammable, important for worker safety and liability.
• By combining the PTFE with our solvent carrier no moisture is present or trapped under its protective coating.
• Lektro-Tech C will “creep”, having no memory it will conform to the treated mating surface area.
• Aircraft exterior and interior fuselage for long term protection against rust and corrosion especially in salt and moist air environments.
• Fan blades, rotors and propeller surfaces, vents, cracks and crevices. Fiction producing areas, and leeward areas where debris accumulates.
• Ideal for sliding action parts, plain bearings, gears, slide plates, etc. Performs better then nylon and acetyl.
• For water contact areas, hulls, propellers, rudders, shafts, intakes, surfaces areas to protect against salt fog attachment and buildup.
Flashpoint: + 600 Degrees F
• To insure complete effectiveness all areas to be treated must have a clean surface.
• Spray, or “paint”, from point “A” to point “B” and repeat from point “B’ to point “A’ to eliminate any pin holing of film.
• Where possible, lightly buff surface with a clean cloth. This orients all crystal formation into the same linear direction. When all the fibers lay in the same direction the effectiveness of the product increases.
